Dear Members,

Greetings !!!

A journal is a very important mouth piece and advertisement for any Society and thanks to the efforts of our past editor, Dr. Suhasini Nagda, our journal has achieved international recognition and standards. Our current Editor, Dr. Ravindra Savadi, has begun his tenure swiftly and earnestly with a smooth transition and remarkable vision.

One key portfolio missing in our journal is indexing by Pubmed. TO achieve this, utmost importance is being given to the quality of articles in the publication. Needless to say, this is only in our (members) hands. Hence I urge all members to contribute keeping conviction and quality as prime objectives. As part of our memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Japan Prosthodontic Society, some of our articles will be selected for publishing in the international edition - Journal of Prosthodontic Research, and vice-versa.

The year has been historic for the Society as four of our young members - Dr. Saumyendra Singh (Lucknow), Dr. Saee Deshpande (Nagpur), Dr. Amit Porwal (Udaipur) and Dr. Gopichander (Chennai) have been sent to Universities in Japan following a rigorous selection process, a culmination of our sustained effort since two years. I am sure the international exposure they receive will have a significant influence on their professional growth. This is the first time a dental specialty organization in the country has achieved international scientific exchange. We are in the process of firming up such MOUs with universities in other countries.

Our Society is now being recognized internationally for its contribution to prosthodontic development. Our president, Dr. Padmanabhan, is set to take over as president of Asian Academy of Prosthodontics (AAP) which includes prosthodontic societies in Japan, Korea, China, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia and Taiwan, in the year 2011 - truly a proud moment for our Society. Chennai will play host to the first ever AAP conference in India in 2012 in conjunction with the 40 th IPS Conference. This will truly reflect international participation and help showcase our clinical and research skills.

Continuing with our decision to invite an internationally acclaimed speaker of repute to our national conference, this year, we have the pleasure of sponsoring Prof. Stappert from New York University. Members are requested to send their inputs on speakers for future conventions, the search for a speaker should begin almost one year ahead. The Prosthodontic Board to be established by the Society is in its final stages of inception and shall be introduced from next year. Our next annual national PG convention will be hosted by the reputed SRM Dental College, Chennai, in June 2010.

What we are today is due to the selfless dedication and efforts of all the past office-bearers of the Society and unflinching support of the members.

Looking forward to your continued support and cooperation,

With best wishes,
